Lightning is a red race car with yellow and orange decals all over, the Rust-eze logo is painted on his hood, the number 95 (which is an Easter egg to the release year of Toy Story) is painted in orange or red on his doors and roof, red rims, blue eyes. He learned most of what he knows about racing from the late great Doc Hudson, and he is looking forward to passing this knowledge on as he enters the next phase of his career. Lightning values time with his girlfriend, Sally Carrera, and his friends, especially Mater, in Radiator Springs. Lightning loves all the attention and adulation that comes with being famous. A real whiz on the track, he's determined to race to victory on his first attempt in the prestigious Piston Cup. He races for the sponsor, Rust-eze.īefore getting into Radiator Springs, Lightning McQueen is flashy, brash, and supremely confident and had a lot of drive.
